DAY #1 IN GREECE

Day #1 on terra ferma in Greece staying at a cute little hotel in Piraeus. It’s a 5 minute walk to the cruise ship

dock.

On a beautiful day I walked to points that were all within a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel and took 2 hours to complete the circle. Found the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (Agia Triada), a magnificent Greek Orthodox cathedral; The Municipal Theatre where, in a beautiful hall there’s a display of various years of Olympic torches. Looking through window of Metropolitan Theatre across the square one can see the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen.

On the way back, right at the dockside is the Church of Saint Nicholas with its wide-stepped approach and square towers. There are small, tree-shaded parks and cafés everywhere.

Though the cruise port is so close, I’ll be taking a taxi tomorrow to join friends on The Brilliance of the Seas.
